Research Reports Studies have confirmed over and over again that staying active is the antidote to physical and mental illness. The benefits of physical activities are obvious, but how does it affect our mental health? Experts agree that there is an interrelated link between our physiological and psychological well being. There is often a direct correlation between the amount of activity a person does, and the level of contentment or happiness that person feels. Physical stimulus drives the metabolic rate and increases blood flow, which does all sorts of positive things to the body, such as improved cardiac output, muscle endurance, and mental alertness. With an active body comes an energized mind. Following the course of inactivity on a person’s health will often lead to higher stress, high blood-pressure, low metabolism, heart disease, and a host of other ailments diminishing that person's quality of life. It stands to reason then that a person’s quality of life is directly proportional to his/her mental state of being.
